Armour scholar Chris Dobson has released a new book: Beaten Black and Blue: The Myth of the Medieval Knight in Shining Armour. This will be a limited edition like an academic monograph to make sure its available for armour scholars centuries to come. I have ordered a copy.

Dobson has seen one of my working papers on the surface of European plate armour in the fourteenth century CE (last updated in 2017 I think). If you are champing at the bit to learn about it, his interpretation will be available before mine and has more pictures and experience with the techniques! His Italian is better than mine too.
